Congregational Activities

Study and Share

Every Tuesday in the 'Braun Study Centre' from 10.00am - 11.00am (except the first Tuesday in the month and school holidays), our 'Study and Share' group meets to study the Holy Bible.

Women's Guild

The Women's Guild meets on the first Tuesday of each month (except November) for study and guest speaker programs. It is a very loyal and active group and regularly attracts attendees from neighbouring congregations.

Seniors Fellowship Group

The ‘Seniors Fellowship Group’ group meets monthly in the afternoon for lunch, games and a devotion. Attendance varies from about 25 to over 50. This is a growing ministry program reaching out to those inside and outside the congregation, and our St Paul’s Lutheran Homes aged care community.

There is an active Youth Program currently in place for 13 to 30 year olds. There are about 10members of our youth group, led by the congregation’s Youth Group Coordinator. The group has regular monthly meetings, and supports the Adelaide Hill’s Zone’s ‘Hills Connect’ monthly Sunday evening worship program. There is regular interaction with other youth groups such as from Strathalbyn congregation and the ‘Salem’ congregation near Callington, in fellowship activities that see 25 or more young people in attendance.

While our Gospel mission is to all the family of God, here at St Paul’s we have developed a special ministry to the elderly through St Paul’s Lutheran Homes which includes facilities in 4 locations at Hahndorf for approximately 60 independent living residents in addition to a 60 bed residential aged care facility for those needing a higher level of care, and we encourage all our members, from the youngest to the oldest, to share in the joy of caring for the elderly.

'Reach Out to PNG' Ministry Program

St Paul's congregation in conjunction with its sister congregation Redeemer Lutheran Church in nearby Nairne, has established its 'Reach Out to PNG' ministry program, which through the financial support of several Adelaide Hills Lutheran congregations, has facilitated repairs to evangelism training infrastructure at Heldsbach in  Finschhafen in Papua New Guinea (PNG). This is a very beautiful but isolated place, with no roads connecting it to the rest of PNG. In addition assistance has been provided to establish a children's early learning centre, and preschool facility.
It will continue to be our congregation's mission to show Christian love and encourage the people of Heldsbach in their Christian faith.

'Hymns & Classics'

Each year, usually on Palm Sunday, St Paul's congregation in conjunction with the local Hahndorf Town Band, presents a program of community hymn singing and musical entertainment in our church.

As a congregation, we aim to reach out to the community, and seek to:-

  • Preserve the community hymn singing tradition, which has been a part of Hahndorf’s heritage from settlement.
  • Create opportunity to utilise our local brass band to bring live musical entertainment to our community.
  • Bring a classical music appreciation experience in the context of one of Hahndorf’s historical venues.
  • Provide an opportunity to raise funds for a local community program or initiative.
'St Nicholas comes To Hahndorf'

Each year on the closest Friday evening to the traditional date of December 6th, the congregation gives the town of Hahndorf a unique and culturally appropriate Christmas parade event that distinguishes from the many other ‘Christmas Pageant’ events in the region.

The event uses the tradition of ‘St Nicholas’ to provide the opportunity for our local community to think of the needs of others both locally and in other communities at this time of the year.

It's a welcome opportunity to again remind particularly children of the real meaning of Christmas.
